Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) Week in Salford

Published 23.05.2017

The sporting community of Greater Manchester is coming together to make a stand against

Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) as part of a week of action taking place 19 – 25 June 2017.

From coaches and spectators to players and physiotherapists, we all have a role to play in identifying the warning signs of CSE and ensuring that it is not welcome within sport in Greater Manchester.

During the week of action, the Salford ‘It’s Not Okay’ team will be working with sporting staff to increase understanding of CSE and the steps that can be taken to identify the signs and provide support.

It’s Not Okay Salford is holding three free information events across the city during this week.

Irlam & Cadishead Leisure Centre, 243 Liverpool Road, Manchester, M44 6BR
Tuesday 20th June 2017. 6-8pm

Harrop Fold High School, 69 Hilton Lane, Worsley, Little Hulton, M28 0SY
Wednesday 21st June 2017. 6-8pm

Hotel Football, 99 Sir Matt Busby Way, Stretford, Manchester, M16 0SZ
Thursday 22nd June 2017. 6-8pm

The information events are designed for anyone who has an interest in, or a responsibility for our local sports clubs.

The event will include information on Safeguarding Policies, how to spot the signs of CSE and grooming, how to deal with disclosures, and much more.

The event will include guest speakers from GMP and partner agencies, certificates will be issued for attendance.

I am certain that the event will be worthwhile and informative and would encourage as many people to attend as possible. Greater education and awareness is crucial in the fight against tackling CSE and ensuring the safeguarding of children and young people.
